Public Service Announcement – Digital Citizenship

For this artifact, I created a Public Service Announcement, in a form of a poster about Digital Citizenship for students and schools. When reflecting on my K-12 experience, I can recognize how there was always a rotation of posters, phrases, or sayings that my teachers and schools would administer, but there was never one that would truly stick. With this poster, it shares what exactly Digital Citizenship is, including what our Digital Footprint or Tattoo is and what students should know about them. In highlighted colors on the left side, it shares an acronym I created to help students before using or posting on social media, both in and out of the classroom. This artifact aligns with Standard #11 Technology from the Maine Common Core Teaching Standards (CCTS) as it can help design lessons using technology, what the impact of technology is on those lessons, enriches professional practice through the implementation of technology, and lastly provides positive technology for learners, colleagues, and families. As this artifact is based around technology and having students become more knowledgeable about Digital Citizenship I believe it is perfect for this standard.

Throughout the ISTE standards, I learned a lot, I figured out what I preferred or what I didn’t enjoy as much. During this specific standard, I really enjoyed using Canva to create a Public Service Announcement. As I’ve learned about Digital Citizenship and Digital Footprints in the past, I believe that I could express some of my knowledge with minimal research for this standard assignment. I was able to use some of what I’ve learned before and applied it to my work in college, and I will also do that in the future as well. Furthermore, this will help improve and expand my knowledge for the future when I do become an educator, as I will have more resources about integrating technology in the classroom.
