Hi there!
My name is Emma Stiles, and I’m graduating this December from the University of New England with a degree in Elementary/Middle School Education and a minor in Special Education. I chose teaching because I am passionate about positively impacting young learners’ lives and creating inclusive, supportive, and inspiring learning environments.
Since August, I have been completing my student teaching internship in a 5th-grade classroom. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to design lessons, implement assessments, and support students’ academic and personal growth firsthand. It has also strengthened my classroom management, instructional planning, and ability to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences for all students.
Throughout my journey, I’ve discovered a special connection with middle schoolers. I truly enjoy guiding them through both academic and personal growth. In the spring of 2024, I joined the middle school as the assistant coach for outdoor track and field, and in the winter of 2024, I also took on the role of assistant indoor track and field coach. I additionally work in the same district as a substitute teacher. Having run track from middle school through high school, it has been incredibly rewarding to introduce students to the sport while helping them build teamwork, confidence, and lasting friendships.
One of my most meaningful experiences has been serving on the York County Teacher of the Year Selection Team. Being part of a group that recognizes the outstanding contributions of educators in our community has been both humbling and inspiring. It has reinforced for me the profound impact teachers can have, not just on students, but on the broader community.
Outside of education, I work on a golf course as a Banquet Event Team Member. This role has helped me strengthen my communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, which I look forward to applying in my future classroom.
Through this platform, I aim to share insights, experiences, and resources related to education while highlighting the work I’ve accomplished at UNE. With graduation just around the corner, I’m eager to carry everything I’ve learned into my teaching career and continue making a difference for students.
